Hanging out at a Hot Damn-like place in Orlando last night with my fave Americans ;) liiiiving the dream!
My first 3 months of living in America and working at the most magical place on earth!
Every day feels like a holiday. The only time I refer to a day of the week is when I look at my work schedule. When I’m off work, it’s like Monday or Tuesday or Friday doesn’t exist. Consider me being on a year long holiday.
What have I achieved in 3 months?
I went to New York City and met my 2nd favorite band of all time, City Lights. Got to hang out with them too, as well as party with the lovely guys from All Hands On Deck!
I went to Panama City for spring break, which was pretty amazing. I got so drunk that day I don’t really remember it. Good times yo!!
I took a band to Disney World and realized that hanging out with bands is where I’m meant to be. I’ve looked into tour management/merch for awhile now and I definitely know its my ultimate dream job.
I’ve made some amazing friends from all over America and the world here. I love the team at ODF. The job sucks, but it really depends on the location (Disney) and the people you work with that make the job worth it.
Haven’t been to many shows yet, the nightlife in Orlando is really different to what I’m used to. Clubs here close at 2am and we don’t even get there til after midnight! The free pouring of alcohol is actually insane. I’ll go back to Australia and down at least 10 drinks before I’m wasted hahaha. But alcohol is so freaking cheap, omg. I love it.
What’s next for me?
Next week is huge on the pop punk show agenda. I’m seeing my fav dudes from City Lights in Orlando this time, and heading to the GK show featuring the wonder years, the story so far, polar bear club, transit and a loss for words! So pumped! On Sunday I’ll be seeing hit the lights, set your goals and cartel which will be equally amazing!!
I love this American music scene. I trying to figure out how I can come to America on a yearly basis.
Keep updated on my daily life by following me on twitter @citylightsTAM and Facebook: www.facebook.com/citylightstam :)
PropertyOfZack Stream : : Heroes For Hire
PropertyOfZack is stoked to be streaming a new song from Australia’s Heroes For Hire called “Set In Stone,” which features Joel Birch of The Amity Affliction. The band will be heading to the US in April and May to record a new album, so this is just a great taste of what’s to come. Stream the song and watch some footage from the 2012 Soundwave Festival below by clicking “Read More!”
Looking back.
I think back to the 1st night I went to Trash to see a band called City Lights Fade play their first show with a band called Heroes For Hire. That night has forever changed my life. it opened my eyes to the clubbing night life. And I never imagined that I’d end up becoming a DJ at Trash.
The past 3 years have given me some of the greatest memories of my life - clubs, partying, concerts, tours, interstate trips, lifelong friendships. Just a few things I achieved:
- my 1st solo trip to Melbourne - camped out for shows
- partied with international bands
- became a DJ
- co-managed a band
I’ve definitely come out a better, stronger, open minded person than when I went in.
I’m only ending a chapter of my life and beginning a new one :)
Stoked!!!
Bring on 2012!
My fav music through the ages
1998: Aaron Carter
2003: Hilary Duff
2004: Simple Plan
2008: City Lights
:)
Starting to sink in…
Trash/SFX is over.
Hot Damn is over.
2 out of 3 jobs done.
My life as I know it is pretty much over, and this makes me sad :(
But I’m definitely looking forward to what life brings me in 2012 :) it’s gonna be insane.
USA - 8 DAYS TO GO!!
